Telekom improves mobile phone supply in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg
The mobile phone supply in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg has experienced a significant improvement. Telekom has expanded a LTE location in the past two months. This expansion leads to an increased mobile phone coverage and an overall larger range in the entire district. In particular, the reception in buildings is improved. The locations in question are located in the municipality of Glasin. The location in Glasin is also responsible for the supply along the A20 motorway.
"The need for bandwidth increases steadily - by about 30 percent a year. That is why we continue to set speed when expanding mobile phone," says Georg von Wagner, press spokesman for Deutsche Telekom.
status and outlook
Telekom currently operates 96 locations in the Northwest Mecklenburg district. The budget cover is almost 100 percent. A further 32 locations are to be added by 2026. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned at 52 radio masts.
Telekom, however, rely on cooperation with the communities or owners in order to rent the necessary areas for new locations. The German radio tower is responsible for the construction of the Telekom mobile phone locations. Telekom currently operates over 36,000 mobile phone locations. In addition, the company is building around 1,500 new locations annually.
