Telekom extends 5G coverage: Improving mobile phone supply in the Wittenberg district
Telekom expands mobile phone supply in the district of Wittenberg
The mobile phone supply in the Wittenberg district has improved thanks to the efforts of Deutsche Telekom. In the past two months, two locations have been equipped with 5G, which leads to an increased coverage and range throughout the district. The reception in buildings has also improved. The locations are located in the municipalities of Coswig (Anhalt) and Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The location in Coswig (Anhalt) also covers the A9 motorway.
The need for bandwidth continuously increases by around 30 percent per year. Therefore, Telekom continues its pace in expanding the mobile network, says Georg von Wagner, company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom.
currently the Telekom operates 78 locations in the Wittenberg district, which corresponds to a budget coverage of around 98 percent. A further 36 locations are to be added by 2026. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned at 26 radio masts.
Telekom is dependent on cooperation with the municipalities or the property owners in order to rent areas for new locations. People who want to rent an area for a roof or mast location can contact the German radio tower that the mobile phone locations of Telekom operates. Currently over 36,000 mobile communications locations are in operation, and the company is building around 1,500 new locations annually.
