Telekom extends 5G cover: Better mobile phone supply in Mecklenburg Lake District

Telekom invests in the improvement of mobile phone supply in the Mecklenburg Lake District

Telekom has successfully expanded the mobile phone supply in the Mecklenburg Lake District district in the past two months. By adding 5G at three locations, the mobile phone coverage was expanded and the bandwidth improved. The reception in buildings is now more stable. The new locations are located in the municipalities of Lindetal, Malchin and Zepkow. The location in Zepkow in particular is used to support the mobile phone supply along the A19 motorway, while the location in Malchin covers the railway lines in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The demand for bandwidth increases steadily by around 30 percent per year. For this reason, Telekom continues to drive mobile phone expansion in order to cover the increasing need. Georg von Wagner, spokesman for Deutsche Telekom, emphasized the importance of this expansion.

status and future plans

In the district of Mecklenburg Seenplatte, Telekom currently operates 166 mobile phone locations and reaches a budget cover of around 99 percent. Another 119 locations are planned by 2025 to further improve the cover and bandwidth. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned on 129 other radio masts.

In order to be able to rent new locations, Telekom is dependent on cooperation with the municipalities or property owners. If you are interested in renting areas for roof or mast locations, you can contact the German radio tower. The German radio tower is responsible for the construction of Telekom's mobile communications locations. Over 36,000 mobile communications locations are currently in operation, and around 1,500 new locations are being built annually.
