Tegeler Hafenfest canceled: Storm damage keep Berlin in chess!

Tegel, Berlin, Deutschland - The Tegeler Hafenfest planned for the end of July must be canceled for security reasons. The authorities in Berlin announced this. The new date for the festival is now from September 25th to 28th, and the venues remain at the usual Greenwich promenade on Lake Tegel.

Originally, the festival was scheduled for the period from July 24th to 27th. However, a heavy storm low, which ran over Berlin at the end of June, had done massive damage, especially in the forest areas of the Tegeler and Spandau Forest. These storms led to the exclusion of emergency measures and to block numerous parks, playgrounds and green areas in the capital.

safety concerns and barriers

The district mayor of Reinickendorf, Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU), emphasizes that the security of the citizens is top priority. The Berlin forestry stated that the blocks of the forests are expected to stop until August 4th. During this time there is a risk to life through overturning trees and falling branches. In addition, two sports facilities must remain closed for security reasons.

The damage caused by the storm are considerable. Around 70 trees fell or were felled in the green areas of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. At least 100 street trees have been damaged in the streets. Controls are currently underway to determine the full extent of the damage. In the Lietzensepark, numerous paths had to be closed due to broken branches and subsequent barriers, whereby there were also felling.

storm balance

The effects of the storm, which also resulted in traffic problems and several seriously injured, can be felt all over Berlin. Everywhere in the city there is the post -processing and securing of the affected areas to ensure the safety of the population.

The authorities ask the population for understanding and cooperation, while the clean-up and security work on the damaged areas continues. In the meantime, attention should be paid to the barriers to avoid potential dangers.
