Collective consolidation at the MHH: Relief for employees in Hanover
A surprising breakthrough for the employees of the Hannover Medical School (MHH)! After endless negotiations, accompanied by heated warning strikes, the United Service Union (ver.di) has made decisive progress. "The movement for more staff and relief in the hospital continues," Sylvia Bühler announced with pride. And that's not all: With this agreement, a total of 27 clinics in Germany have now enforced binding relief regulations!
hundreds of employees at the MHH experienced a powerful moment - they successfully fought for their rights! The results of this argument are not only a victory, but also a clear message to the entire industry: Together we are strong!
key points of the historical agreement
The union and the MHH have agreed on central points of a legal agreement that grants the employees individual rights. These regulations determine exactly how many staff must be available in the different layers. If the target occupations are undercut several times or if unexpected stressful situations, such as due to attacks or sudden changes in the roster, will receive additional exemption days as compensation!
For the years 2025 to 2027, up to 14 additional free days are planned for MHH employees - a decision that means a concrete relief for all sides! And the best thing about it? These regulations not only apply to nursing staff, but also include many other groups such as ambulance and therapy that benefit from these measures from January 1, 2025!
requirements and outlook
"This agreement is a great success for the employees of the Hanoverian University Hospital," Bühler praised the agreement. But she also has a clear message to the entire hospital landscape: "We need more staff and relief for all clinics in Germany!" The PPR 2.0 developed by ver.di in cooperation with the German Hospital Society and the German Nursing Council, which regulates personnel standards in the bed leading stations, has already come into force in July and is now being introduced to all clinics.
"We stay tuned and keep the pressure up to until the urgently needed relief for all groups of employees actually matters" - that is the clear promise of Bühler. The fight for more security and less stress in the clinics has just started!
