Citizens' participation in change

The developments in citizen participation reflect a profound change in society. The term includes conventional co -determination processes such as elections and unconventional forms of participation, such as dialogue procedures or demonstrations that are often initiated by civil society. This diversity in participation shows that the character of the obligation is due to the turnout and gain individual decisions in relevance.

Despite the fundamentally high support for democracy, it turns out that trust in political institutions, such as politicians and parties, tends to decrease. This can also be an explanation for the broad participation in the open day, which invited the citizens to directly experience and shape democracy, to revitalize the trust and to bridge the gap between politics and society.
