trend reversal for acts of violence
Such violent crimes are a serious topic in Germany. According to current statistics, violent crime is less than 4% of all police crimes, but they have an enormous impact on the feeling of security of the citizens. In 2024, around 217,000 violent crimes were registered, which is the highest number since 2007. It is noteworthy that the acts of violence initially decreased from 2017, but has increased again since 2021. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), economic uncertainties and social stress could be regarded as possible reasons for the increase in violence. The statistics also show that around 2,740 acts of violence against emergency services were recorded in 2023, which is also alarming. A survey showed that 94% of German violence against people from politics, police and emergency services perceive as a major problem.
