Rising unemployment: Brandenburg beats Berlin in November!
In November 2024, the current unemployment figures in Berlin and Brandenburg show different developments. While unemployment could be reduced in Berlin, Brandenburg has an increase. According to the published statistics of the Berlin-Brandenburg Regional Directorate of the employment agency, unemployed people are currently registered in Berlin-a decline from 2,110 compared to the previous month. However, the number increased by 14,328 people compared to November 2023, which increases the unemployment rate to 9.7 percent (+0.5 percentage points compared to the previous year). This was also reported by RBB24.
In Brandenburg, on the other hand, the situation is more critical. Here the number of unemployed rose by 194 people to a total of 82,018 people in November. The unemployment rate climbed to 6.1 percent, an increase of 0.3 points compared to the previous year, while in November 2023 4,223 unemployed were still less registered, as N-TV reported. Particular attention is paid to the increasing number of unemployed people with disabilities; In Berlin there are currently 8,355, 4,242 in Brandenburg. Ramona Schröder, head of the regional directorate, appeals to companies to actively consider these specialists because they often have valuable experiences and qualifications.
Both federal states also show that despite increasing unemployment figures, there are also numerous vacancies available: 20,985 jobs subject to social security contributions are available in Berlin, while Brandenburg lists 22,530 vacant positions. Specialists in the areas of temporary work, healthcare and construction and trading sectors are particularly in demand. On December 3, the international day of people with disabilities, the employment agency wants to draw additional attention to the Integration of this group of people.
