Seven -year -old wins playground competition: inaugurated seesaw on the Anschützweg!

A little winner, a big dream: Anthony-Noel Penderuk, only 7 years old, won the 2023 playground competition as part of the “Room for Children's Dreams” project! And now his wish will be reality!

The young winner was able to choose a new play equipment that should be installed on the playground of his choice. Anthony chose a seesaw at the playground on the Anschützweg in Staaken. This seesaw is now proud of the facility, and on November 15th it was ceremoniously inaugurated-of course in the presence of the radiant Anthony, City Councilor Thorsten Schatz (CDU) and Olaf Höhn from the Florida ice cream factory who actively support the project.

a creative competition with heart

Last year, the children had to build a sand sculpture on a playground and photograph the result. The jury convinced Anthony’s impressive creation, even if it was badly damaged shortly after completion. The seesaw was a clear choice because it has so far been missing in this playground. But the joy does not end here! This year there is also a new competition with the motto: "Design your favorite playground device". The winners will be announced at the end of November and their wish is expected to come true in 2025.

But the district office has even more in store! On November 13, the new youth playground "Am Havelgarten" in Haselhorst was opened, which was expanded with exciting movement offers thanks to the "Room for Children's Dreams" initiative. Here young people will find a calisthenics system, table tennis slabs and a trampoline. The planning took into account the wishes of the future users, and in March 2023 there was a survey with the youth club Havelspitze.

Another highlight was available on November 14th at Götelstraße 70, where a new play and football field was opened with inclusive offers. Here people with restrictions can also use the devices. The 1800 square meter Bolzplatz combines the playground with the future roll sports facility of the youth leisure facility wild growth and is supplemented by a new path towards Havel. This project was financed by funding from the urban planning program "Living Centers and Quarters".
