Wilhelmstraße, 13581 Berlin, Deutschland - The district office Spandau has completed a new pedestrian crossing in Wilhelmstrasse. The crossing is located at the confluence with the street at the Omnibushof and was realized in cooperation with the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment (SenMVKU) and BVG. The aim of this measure is to improve traffic safety, especially near the Wilhelmstadt primary school, which counts more than 1,300 students.

The redesigned overweight offers a barrier crossing for children as well as for mobility and visually impaired people. For this purpose, differentiated on -board heights of 0 cm and 6 cm as well as tactile elements were installed, which make it easier to use the overwhelming. In addition, the lighting was expanded by the Berlin power grid to improve visibility in the dark half of the year.

The project aims to make the school route of the ABC shooters safer. In particular, the measures were taken to enable the road to be safely crossed. The construction work took place at a strongly frequented area, near the Wilhelmstadt schools, which are regularly attended by many students. During the construction phase, Wilhelmstraße is signposted from Gatower Straße to Heerstrasse as a one -way street, and the sidewalks are blocked in sections in order to be able to carry out the work safely.

After completing the work, the new pedestrian crossing will not only be marked by the different curb heights of 0 and 6 centimeters and by tactile markings, but also by adequate lighting, which further increases safety in road traffic. These measures together should increase traffic safety and significantly improve the crossing of the planned crossing for all users.
