Volunteer office: commitment to the livelihood in the Spandau district
The volunteer office in the Spandau district actively deals with the topic of volunteering, especially in connection with the food distribution center "Laib and Seele" on Schönwalder Strasse. Around 500 people with low incomes are supplied with food every week, with the number of needy increasing steadily. From single mothers to pensioners from all social classes, support is offered here.
The voluntary commitment of Gert Kaczmarek and his team is of crucial importance for people who live on the livelihood. The podcast of the volunteer office illuminates the diversity of volunteering, civic engagement and the importance of community commitment to society. Since 2004, the Berliner Tafel and the Berlin parishes have been offering output points for people in need, including four in Spandau, including "Laib and Soul".
The Berliner Tafel supplies over 400 social facilities with food and thus supports more than 92,000 people in need per month. Interested parties can find out more about opportunities for commitment and support options and contact the “LAIB and Soul” issue. This commitment illustrates the leading role of volunteering in the support of the needy people and the maintenance of a solidarity in society.
