Earth Hour 2023: Set a sign of climate protection

On March 23, this year's Earth Hour will take place, a worldwide symbolic action that wants to draw attention to saving energy and climate protection. This campaign will be organized for the 18th time by the WWF and takes place every year from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time. The campaign is aimed at private individuals, clubs and companies that can participate.

The district mayor of Spandau, Frank Werbig, calls to take part in the Earth Hour and set a sign of the climate by switching off the light for an hour. He emphasizes that the Earth Hour has a symbolic meaning and illustrates that everyone can become active with small steps to save energy. It also underlines the need for a sustainable energy transition and points out that the Spandau district office is already implementing measures to save energy.

worldwide are darkened for an hour at Earth Hour landmarks, corporate seats, private houses and public buildings. In 2023, people from over 190 countries took part in the campaign. The motto of this year's Earth Hour is "your hour for the earth". A special novelty is the "Hour Bank" with which the WWF calls for hours that were used in March for climate protection or democracy -promoting activities. This can be done on the WWF website, where information about Earth Hour and the locations involved can also be found.

In Spandau, the climate workshop offers further ideas and tips on climate protection and energy saving. By participating in Earth Hour and the commitment to climate protection, we can all help to create a sustainable future and a livable environment for subsequent generations.
