Reduction of the network of networks: relief for consumers and businesses

shocking savings at electricity costs!

01.10.2024, Berlin: An incredible decline of almost 9 billion euros! The transmission system operators triumph with new forecasts for the years 2025 to 2028: The costs for network management are drastically reduced. This light at the end of the tunnel is a real blessing for the economy and consumers!

The lightning -fast reduction of the costs is a real turning point. The focus is on the expensive redispatch measures-these complex interventions in electricity production that are necessary to stabilize the power grid. If too much or too little energy flows in a section of the network, network operators must immediately put on or park power plants in order to keep the balance. These measures depend directly on the fluctuations in electricity prices!

The causes of the cost reduction

The shock of the energy policy landscape is still noticeable: "The Russian attack on Ukraine and Germany's dependence on fossil gas led to astronomical energy prices in 2022 and 2023," explains Wolfram Axthelm, Managing Director of Bee. But now a certain normality returns to the energy price market, which is finally optimistic of the transmission system operators.

The true revolution, however, triggered the explosive increase in renewable energies: in the first half of 2024, more than 60 percent of electricity production already came from renewable sources. Axthelm observed: "The game with fossil energies and the associated price fluctuations are becoming increasingly difficult for the future." Incorrect redisc spatch costs also lead to falling network charges and thus to a real price advantage for end consumers.

focus on the future!

The Bee standing point? The heated debate about splitting the uniform electricity price zone is now a thing of the past! "The outlook of the transmission system operators has pulverized the last argument of the proponents. The rediscation of the redispatch costs we predicted has now become a reality," explains Axthelm. The time has come to take these unnecessary discussions and concentrate on the essentials: the expansion of the power grid, the development of storage options and the promotion of flexibility in our energy system.

With these measures we set the course for a robust and affordable energy system of the future!
