Six young people attack 15-year-olds in the Marzahn skaters park!
Senftenberger Straße, Marzahn, Deutschland - On June 25, 2025, a 15-year-old boy was victim of a brutal attack in Marzahn. Six young people attacked him in the skating park on Wuhletalstrasse after he had previously been involved in a dispute with two other young people. The situation escalated when one of the two young people asked him if he wanted to beat himself, which the 15-year-old said no. Thereupon the two left the park, but later returned with four other accomplices and attacked the victim jointly, so that the boy finally had to be taken to the hospital with head injuries. The victim's mother immediately filed a complaint for dangerous bodily harm. The incident is now examined by a specialist commissioner of the police department 3 (East), and the investigators are looking for the fleeting perpetrators who left the crime scene after the attack without being caught.
This frightening act is involved in the increasing reports of youth violence in Berlin. According to current data, the suspects in the capital have risen by 12% and young people by 9.5%. Experts warn that there are often violent incidents on social media that are documented and distributed there, which represents a worrying development. Pandemic also has a decisive influence on the behavior of young people, since there is a lack of social practice rooms and crises such as the Ukraine War, inflation and climate change.
youth crime as a social problem
The causes of youth crime are complex. Studies show that four out of five young people have already committed crimes, with harmless deeds such as vandalism or shoplifting in the foreground. While over 70% of young people are never striking, a small group of around 3-7% of young people in Berlin are committed to over half of all deeds. Especially in times of crisis, violent incidents are increasing, with schools often act as the main actors.
Another concern of worrying is the increase in youth violence in combination with a changed masculinity that prevails in many young people. Male adolescents show increased aggressive behavior that is often used to obtain social recognition. In addition, non-German suspects are increasing with disproportionate proportions, which ensures additional challenges in the public discussion.
The recent incidents, both the attack on the 15-year-old and similar acts with 14-year-old victims, illustrate the urgency to increasingly deal with the topic of youth violence in order to find long-term solutions. The investigation in Marzahn is therefore only a small part of a major social problem that requires serious attention.
