Six teenagers arrested after robberies in Pankow and Reinickendorf!
On the night of Monday, November 11th, a series of crimes occurred in Berlin that led several teenagers and young men between the ages of 15 and 21 into the clutches of the police. Emergency forces from Berlin Police Department 1 and the Federal Police arrested a total of six suspects who are suspected of having committed several robberies and burglaries in Reinickendorf and Pankow Berlin Live reported.
The series began around 1:30 a.m. in Reinickendorf when residents heard a loud clanging noise. A perpetrator tried to kick a hole in the window of a restaurant on Emmentaler Strasse, but fortunately the break-in was unsuccessful and nothing was stolen. At 2:10 a.m., the suspects pounced on a 25-year-old man on Provincial Street, planned a direct robbery and demanded money. During the altercation, the man was knocked down and his fanny pack was stolen, which resulted in a broken nose. He had to be treated as an outpatient in hospital.
Robberies and arrests
A few minutes later, at 2:35 a.m., a 59-year-old pedestrian in Pankow became the next victim. He was attacked by the group, who stole his wallet and other valuables. The victim chose not to seek medical attention even though he was slightly injured.
At around 3 a.m., federal police patrol officers noticed a trio on Kühnemannstrasse who were suspiciously standing next to parked vehicles. A Toyota Corolla had a smashed side window. During further investigations, a 20-year-old suspect was arrested while the vehicle was seized. Through extensive investigations, the other five suspects were caught that night. A balaclava and an emergency hammer were confiscated from a 21-year-old.
All those arrested were handed over to the criminal police, who are now continuing to advance the investigation against the group. The crime highlights the challenges of inner-city security in increasingly complex social contexts.
The investigation remains ongoing and it remains to be seen whether further criminal charges will be filed in this matter.
