violent thunderstorm about Berlin - fire brigade in action
In the night of Tuesday, a violent thunderstorm moved across Berlin and caused numerous problems. The fire brigade had their hands full to combat fires and remove damage.
The districts of Mahlsdorf and Lichtenrade were particularly affected. In the Ahornallee in Mahlsdorf, a flash hit a family home and set the roof on fire. Thanks to the rapid use of around 40 firefighters, it was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to the entire house. However, considerable damage was created on the roof.It hit the residents of an apartment building in Pechsteinstrasse in Lichtenrade even worse. At around 2 a.m. the residents heard a loud bang, shortly afterwards the roof of the house was on fire on around 250 square meters. Fortunately, all residents were able to get to safety in good time and remained unharmed. However, the extinguishing work was difficult and took several hours. A total of 91 fire brigade forces were on site, including two turntable ladder vehicles. The house is probably no longer habitable.
How many other missions the fire brigade drove in connection with the storm was still unclear at that time.
Public transport was also affected by the thunderstorm. Due to the disorders, the S85 line fell completely. In addition, a tree fell on the tracks of the S47 between Schöneweide and Spindlersfeld, which interrupted the train traffic in this section. A replacement traffic was set up.
The storm about Berlin not only caused chaos and damage, but also led to impairments in public life. The clean -up work should take some time before everything runs normal again.
