In the dispute over the Jahnstadion in Berlin, a significant stop has been achieved. As the Berliner Zeitung , the demolition work of the legendary sports building was exposed to an indefinite period. In the meantime, a promising stadium project is planning in Europe that attracts the attention of the sports world. With its impressive CHF 1.31 billion, it is traded as the most modern football arena in Europe and sets new standards in the stadium architecture. Nevertheless, the developments in Berlin throw a shadow on the innovative stadium building and the possibilities of financing similar projects.

In view of the precarious situation in Berlin, the question remains open how and whether the Jahnstadion, a 象徴 for sport in the GDR, can be preserved. The challenges of renovation, combined with the urban budgets, are serious chapter in the history of Berlin football. In order to maintain the plans on life, changes and rethinking will be necessary in order to honor both historical value and to meet modern requirements.
