Handy subject cards for parents: first aid and growing up in the focus!
New Initiative to promote healthy growing up children
In order to support parents and supervisors in the first aid and growing up children, the district office has started a new initiative. A total of 500 "parent companions" and 240 "emergency companions" were made available. These handy subject cards contain important information and tips that should help families grow up their children healthy and safely.
The "parent companion" focuses on the first year of life and deals with topics such as development, baby care, nutrition, sleep and home security. The cards are distributed to families by the employees of the children's and youth health service when visiting home. The “emergency companions” should support parents who take part in a first aid course and also support supervisors without medical training in emergencies. They contain information about the 33 most common emergencies and facilitate first aid measures.
City Councilor Alexander Ewers emphasizes the practicality of the cards: "The handy subject cards can be attached and taken away anywhere. We would like to ensure that Reinickendorfer families receive the necessary support to let their children grow up healthy."
Health City Councilor Uwe Brockhausen adds: "This initiative shows how the cooperation between different departments can lead to concrete help for families." The financing of the subject cards took place from funds on the prevention of child and family poverty and is intended to promote the health development of children. This is part of the efforts as part of the Berlin strategy against child and family poverty.
