according to a report by www.berlin.de can be found in the Humboldt library on November 14th 2023 at 7.30 p.m. an event on the occasion of Otfried Preußler's 100th birthday. At this event, the Austrian actor Erich Langwiesner and the writer Michael Kleeberg Preußler's novel "The escape to Egypt. Royal Bohemian part" present.
In the novel, Preussler geographically shifts the action of the Christmas story to Bohemia at the time of the K.U.K. Monarchy. The escape of the Holy Family to Egypt leads them through the Kingdom of Bohemia, at a time before the great disasters who later hit this region.
Cultural City Councilor Harald Muschner (CDU) describes the book as a personal work of Preussler with subtle observations, delicate irony and quiet grief.
The text passages from the book are performed by actor Erich Langwiesner in a Bohemian tone, accompanied by pictures of Bohemian Christmas cribs. Michael Kleeberg, who curated the event, classifies the novel in Preussler's biography.
Erich Langwiesner is an Austrian actor who is currently involved in the Linz State Theater. Michael Kleeberg is a writer and translator living in Berlin. His current novel "Dawn" was published at the end of August 2023.
The event takes place in the Humboldt Library in Berlin. Admission is free.
