Flag for women's rights: Reinickendorf sets signs against violence

** Dramatic reality: Violence against women - purely into consciousness! ** On Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1 p.m., the Reinickendorf town hall will be transformed into an impressive sign of solidarity! The anti-violence flag is hoisted to counter a serious and often invisible threat: domestic violence.

Did you know that every fourth woman in Germany is violently affected by her partner or ex-partner in life? Shocking, but true! And every three days a woman becomes a victim of fatal violence from her own environment. This brutal truth is put into light on the international commemorative and action day against violence against girls and women, which has been committed worldwide since 1999.

set a strong sign

"With the hoist of the anti-violence flag, we set a clear sign against violence against girls and women in Reinickendorf. Domestic violence is only one of many forms of violence that women experience in this country. We have to oppose this together and decisively," sharpens district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) for this urgent topic.

The city administration of Reinickendorf cordially invites all citizens to join this significant campaign and to announce a powerful “no to violence against women”. District Mayor Demirbüken-Wegner will, together with the equal opportunities officer Birgit Haase and the chairman of the Reinickendorfer Advisory Board for Girls and Women's Affairs, will present the flag and present the latest facts and figures on this burning topic.
