Delegation from Berlin visits partner city of Melle
The Lower Saxony city of Melle and the Berlin district of Reinickendorf recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of their friendly relationships, which were officially sealed in 1988 in a town twinning. Melle visited a five-member delegation from Reinickendorf, led by district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner, for a two-day festival weekend.
since 2021 Jutta Dettmann has been mayor in Melle and she warmly received the delegation. The highlights of the visit were speeches in the town hall, in which Emine Demirbüken-Wegner had the honor of entering the city's Golden Book. As a gift, she presented a hand-painted bowl of the royal porcelain manufacturer with the image of the Wittenau town hall. The delegation also took part in a city tour through the city center, visited the town hall, churches, the old post office and the youth center B10.
The long -term partnership between Melle and Reinickendorf has led to a lively cultural exchange and mutual visits. Such partnerships help promote understanding and friendship between different regions and can also bring economic advantages for both sides.
