Berlin: Colorful Resi motifs adorn the garbage containers along Residenzstrasse-an art project by the Gustav Freytag School

Along the Residenzstraße in Berlin, garbage containers with resi-calling motifs were recently decorated. The designs come from students from the Gustav Freytag School, who designed graffiti templates in the form of linoleum cuts as part of a school project. These were then produced by a professional company as metal templates. After the motifs originally faded after three weeks, the motifs originally faded after a permanent solution.

The business road management Residenzstrasse contacted the BSR (Berlin city cleaning), which finally applied two selected motifs to the orange garbage containers. The motifs can now be admired and contribute to a more beautiful appearance of the street.

The school project is part of the "Clean Residenzstraße" campaign, which was launched as part of the funding program "Living Centers and Quarters". The goal of the campaign is to sharpen the awareness of the population for garbage and waste prevention and to strengthen responsibility for the direct environment.

District City Councilor Korinna Stephan is enthusiastic about the campaign and thanks the artists of the Gustav Freytag School and the BSR for their support.

local effects and context

The decoration of the garbage containers along Residenzstrasse is part of a wider action plan to beautify the district. The cooperation between students, schools, local authorities and companies not only promotes awareness of cleanliness and waste prevention, but also strengthened a feeling of community and participation in the local population.

The Residenzstraße is a busy business street in the Reinickendorf area of Berlin. By beautifying the garbage containers with creative motifs, the street scene is upgraded and a more positive image of the district is created. This can have an impact on the attractiveness for residents, business people and tourists, and thus also have economic effects by supporting local companies and attracting new investments.

In addition, the school project promotes the artistic development of the students and their works are publicly exhibited. This contributes to the appreciation of art and culture in the community and may be able to inspire further artistic projects and work together in the future.
