Predator alarm in the Finkenpark: Great excitement in the Berlin district of Dahlem

Berlin - On Tuesday evening, a concerned caller from the Berlin police reported a predator in the Finkenpark in Dahlem. This message reminded of the incident some time ago when a lioness in Brandenburg and Berlin was spotted. Thereupon a patrol made its way to the location mentioned.

The concern was ultimately unfounded. The police's social media team tweeted: "This time any doubt is excluded: this is not a wild boar". The associated photo showed a plush predator, probably a lioness, on a distribution box.

The police spokesman said that the caller thought the predator was real. But the colleagues arriving on site were able to give the all -clear. Further measures were not required.

In July there was a similar situation when a supposed lion video in Berlin and Brandenburg caused excitement. It was believed that a lioness was traveling in the southwestern Berlin districts or adjacent Brandenburg communities. A police operation was started, which was taken into account in Germany.

After about 24 hours, the all -clear could be given: it was most likely a wild boar. A hair sample was analyzed by the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) on behalf of the veterinary office of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district. It was found that it was very likely that it was not a cat hair, as the municipality of Kleinmachnow confirmed in a press release.

In this current case, a predator was actually sighted, but luckily it was a harmless soft toy.
