People's disappearance: Missed kayak driver has been found dead at the Senftenberger See for weeks
A man has been missing at Lake Senftenberg since mid -June. His kayak was found on the shore. Now there is sad certainty - the man was discovered dead in the water. The sad news was announced on Saturday morning by a spokeswoman for the police service.
Already in mid -June, a passerby had discovered an abandoned kayak in the reed on the bank. The officials found clothes and a car key in the kayak. Despite an intensive search with the support of a sniffer dog and a police helicopter, the result was unsuccessful at the time.
The missing person is a 51-year-old man from the region, as the "Lausitzer Rundschau" reports. His relatives had searched for his whereabouts and distributed search lists on the bank. So far it is unclear what happened to him after his disappearance on June 15th. The Senftenberger See is very large with its water surface of around 1100 hectares and also has a 250 hectare, densely forested island.
Unfortunately, there were already two more fatal bathing accidents in Brandenburg in July. At the beginning of July, a six -year -old girl drowned in Rangsdorfer See after playing with relatives and then suddenly could no longer be found. The police searched for the child with divers and dogs, and a police helicopter was also used. In the evening, the lifeless girl could be recovered from the lake south of Berlin.
The same weekend, the driver of a sports boat in Lake Caputher discovered the lifeless body of a swimmer. The man brought the woman to the bank, alerted the police and started resuscitation measures. Despite the continuation of the measures by rescue workers, an emergency doctor was only able to determine the death of the 72-year-old. In both cases, the police have initiated death procedure.
These tragic incidents again show the dangers when bathing in lakes and rivers. It is important to always be careful and to consider the instructions of the lifeguards. Children in particular should never play unattended near the water. The police also appeal to the bathers to realistically assess their swimming skills and to avoid the stay in the water in the event of any uncertainties. The bathing season can only be safe and without accidents through mindfulness and mutual support.
