Problems at Postbank: Berliner and Brandenburg customers complain about IT problems

No access to accounts-numerous Postbank customers in Berlin and Brandenburg complain about IT problems

According to a report by www.rbb24.de, numerous Postbank customers complain about IT problems. Since the beginning of the year, complaints about incorrect transfers, incorrect debit and blocked accounts have been piling. Postbank had integrated the data of twelve million customers into the IT system of its parent company Deutsche Bank in order to save costs and offer better service. But the problems have not decreased since then.

As a citizen of Berlin, you can experience the effects of IT problems at Postbank up close. Affected customers report extremely long processing times, poor communication and non-achievement. Some could not access their account for weeks or even months. This leads to considerable inconvenience and uncertainty among account holders.

Postbank claims that there are no basic IT problems, but only "individual disorders" for individual customers. Nevertheless, the bank admits that there are increasing inquiries in connection with IT problems and that there are longer processing times. The hotlines are still overloaded and the technical problems have not yet been solved.

In view of the ongoing IT problems, Bafin's banking supervision has switched on a special representative to monitor the processes at Postbank and "quickly restore the normal condition". Consumer advocates advise affected customers to obtain an injunction or to change the bank, which is also possible with a blocked account. In Brandenburg, 60 customers and 70 customers have registered with the consumer advice centers in Berlin and in Berlin. However, the actual number of those affected should be significantly higher.

The IT problems of Postbank are also worrying against the background of the planned closure of branches by the Group's mother Deutsche Bank. In the next two years, up to 250 of the currently 550 Postbank branches are to be closed. This raises questions about the trust of customers in Postbank online banking, since the IT problems have not yet been resolved. There are still dozens of Postbank branches in Berlin and Brandenburg.
