An exhibition in the town hall shows the dreams and realities of girls and women in Afghanistan
The photo exhibition "Her Dream, Her Pain: Depicted and Quoted", which can currently be seen in the corridors of the Lichtenberg town hall in Berlin, takes a moving look at the life of girls and women in Afghanistan. Photographer Tahora Husaini has made impressive portraits of various personalities, including doctors, entrepreneurs, artists and business managers. Adolescent girls were also taken in front of the lens, just two weeks before the Taliban seized power in August 2021.
The portrayed people dreamed of a future in which they could become pilot or even the first mayor of Kabul. But the reality in which they live shows another side. The exhibition not only shows the dreams of these women and girls, but also lets them have their say in short quotations. These quotes reveal the common hope of a self -determined life in which they can develop their skills and talents.
