Poetic art: gold tree and shade for new primary school in Berlin
As part of the non -open art competition for the new elementary school under the trees in Blankenburg, the artist Oliver Van den Berg convinced the jury with his design "Goldbaum and Shadowlaub" and took first place. His innovative concept takes up the name of the school and transforms the foyer, the atrium and the stairwells into poetic works of art.
van den Berg's design presents an abstract golden tree with roots that connect the foyer to the sky. Over 130 branch forks are cast in aluminum, mirrored, colored gold and sealed to achieve a unique visual effect. This approach was able to convince the jury with its conceptual and aesthetic strength and will be realized in 2024.
The artist Caroline Kryzecki achieved second place with her design "Rules want to be broken!". The modular tiles in different colors and shapes generate complex structures and invite you to diverse anti -socials. In third place, Maja Rohwetter landed with her work "Arbonauten #1 Arbonauten #2", which the visitors: in the middle of a tree landscape.
The art competition was announced by the Pankow district office in order to advance the expansion of the primary school under the trees as part of the Berlin school building offensive. The submitted designs should be an identification moment for the students: interior and teachers and combine the architecture of the new building with the topic of "foliage".
