Plauderbank inaugurated on the Pankower Anger: City councilor promotes the neighborhood exchange
Today, the district's first spoke bank was set up on the Pankower Anger near the bronze plastic "Quarter moon bearer" (Breite Straße, 13187 Berlin) and inaugurated by the district councilor for order and public space, Manuela Anders-Granitzki. The chats are an initiative of the street and green area office of the Pankow district to promote social contacts and strengthen the neighborhood exchange. The benches are specially designed to make older people and people with disabilities easier and get up. They invite you to linger and “chat”. City councilor Manuela Anders-Granitzki emphasizes the importance of these benches to bring people together again after Corona pandemic and to strengthen the exchange in the neighborhoods.
The costs for the list of the first Plauderbank amount to 1,400 euros. The administration plans to set up three to five other chats in the district.
The list of chats is a nationwide initiative and has already been successfully implemented in other German cities. The benches are designed so that they invite you to sit and get to know new people. Especially for older people who often have fewer social contacts, these benches are a great opportunity to talk to others easily. They therefore not only serve as a seat, but also as an instrument for promoting social contacts.
It is important that such initiatives are taken to strengthen the community and cohesion in local communities. The chats can help improve the quality of life for many people and create an inclusive environment in which everyone is welcome.
The following table shows the planned locations and costs for the other chats:
| Location | Cost |
| ——————- | ——— |
| Mühlenstrasse | € 1,200 |
| Parkstrasse | 1,500 € |
| Schlosspark | € 1,800 |
The list of these other benches is planned for the coming months to extend the project beyond the Pankow district and to extend the advantages of chats to different districts.
