Pankow women*March 2024: Diverse events for international women's day

This year again the Pankow women*March is all about the International Women's Day on March 8, which has been a public holiday in Berlin since 2019. Numerous events of the Pankow women*projects offer space for solidarity exchange, encounters, networking and knowledge transfer.

A variety of topics, formats and venues are characteristic of the Pankow women*March. In an art therapy workshop, Flinta* people with escape and migration history are invited to a creative examination of the topics of intersectionality, feminism and discrimination (Trixiewiz e.V.). Two film evenings offer the opportunity to learn more about the life of women in the GDR (women's districts of women) or about the indigenous long -distance runner Lorena Ramírez from the people of the Tarahumara in Mexico (Xochicuicatl e.V.). In addition, brave women are portrayed who work for peace and equality (women's advice "Berta"), as well as women who have worked in Venice in different centuries (women's shop Paula).

The Fry Frausuchtzukunft e.V. Furthermore, a book reading about the strengthening of black women and girls in the context of war, discrimination and racism (women's center Paula Panke), the lighting of women in ancient Peruvian society (Migrarte Perú e.V.) and the deconstruction of clichés about migrant women (EWA e.V. Frauenzentrum) are on the program. The Women's Day program is rounded off by a Frauenesben* Jam session in the Sunday club, accompanied by the FLI* choir "Stadtlibellen".

Another highlight of the Pankow women*March is the participation of the Pankow district. On Wednesday, March 6, the district office, with the hanging of the Equal Pay Day flag on the Rathaus Pankow, sets a solidarity sign for closing the wage gap between women and men. On Monday, March 11th, the district office will host this year's Pankow women's award. The award will take place at 6:45 p.m. in the Emma-Ihrer Hall of the Pankow town hall and requires registration until March 4. On Wednesday, March 20, together with the AG search for traces of the Pankow women's advisory board, the public rework of the memorial plaque for Zenzl takes place, to which all interested parties are cordially invited.
