Pankow is looking for green heroes: Environmental Prize for old varieties

Die Bezirksverordnetenversammlung (BVV) und das Bezirksamt Pankow rufen unter dem Motto „Pankow grünt und wächst – alte Sorten neu gemacht“ zu innovativen Ideen für den Pankower Umweltpreis auf. Gesucht werden Ideen, die sich mit dem Wiederentdecken und dem Erhalt von „Alten Sorten“ befassen. Dabei kann es sich um Projekte von Bürger:innen, Schüler:innen, Kitagruppen, ehrenamtlichen Initiativen, Vereinen und allen anderen Interessierten handeln. The district council (BVV) and the district office Pankow call up under the motto "Pankow green and grows - old varieties" for innovative ideas for the Pankow environmental award. Ideas are looking for ideas that deal with re -discovering and receiving “old varieties”. These can act on projects of citizens: inside, students: inside, daycare groups, voluntary initiatives, associations and everyone interested. Natural resources such as earth, water, plants and air form the basis of our daily life and its sustainable use is crucial for sustainable development.

The Pankower Environment Award is endowed with prize money of up to 3,000 euros and the "golden toad" is also awarded to an outstanding project as a hiking price. The jury, consisting of members of all BVV groups, decides on the awarding of the prices. Applications can be submitted to the BVV office by June 10, 2024.

The environmental prize is part of the efforts in Pankow to promote sustainability and the preservation of natural resources. Many citizens are already committed to mindfulness and protection of the environment in Pankow by replacing old gardens and maintaining forgotten fruit and vegetable varieties. The applications for the environmental prize should be recognized and promoted.

By leaving this price, awareness of the importance of sustainability in the community is strengthened and innovations in this area promoted.
