Pankow, Deutschland - On March 25, 2025, the urban planning contracts for the important “Pankower Tor” project were signed. In a joint project, the district of Pankow, the Berlin Senate and the Krieger company are working on the creation of new living rooms in Berlin. The project is part of the Berlin model of cooperative building land development, which promotes sustainable and needs -based urban development. The new tram line between Weißensee and the S-Bahn station Pankow is intended to create additional traffic development opportunities and improve the accessibility of the city district. Beautier Christian Gaebler described the project as a "milestone with national importance". The end of the development plan has been aimed for by the end of 2026.

A challenge that has not yet been clarified concerns the whereabouts of some historical buildings on the site, including a round locomotive shed from 1893 as well as a ring locomotive shed from 1901-1906 and an administration building from the 1960s. In the context of urban development, the planning coordination for social infrastructure is also further strengthened in Berlin. Concepts for social infrastructure (Siko) have been created in the districts since 2016. The aim of the planning coordination is to promote the exchange and knowledge transfer between the actors in the districts and the Senate administrations in order to ensure integrated infrastructure planning.
