Memory of the pogroms: Events in Pankow on November 8, 2024
On November 8, 2024, the horrors of the story in Pankow will be alive again! The memories of the incredible suffering of the Jewish Community are awaited about the memorial events on the occasion of the 1938 pogrom night. The victims of the inhumane actions of the National Socialists are commemorated in two important places.
At 10:00 a.m., the citizens and dignitaries gather in the Jewish cemetery in Prenzlauer Berg. Dr. Oliver Jütting, the head of the district council, and the district mayor Dr. Cordelia Koch put down her quiet memory there with simple but significant wreaths. Here, at the place of reminding, the past becomes part of the present - and it is a moment that nobody should miss!
a moving commemoration in the heart of Berlin
The second ceremony at the Jewish Cemetery Weißensee follows at 12:00 p.m. Here the memory of the still noticeable consequences of the pogroms continues. A sign of hope and cohesion is set! The wreaths that are laid are symbols for the never forgotten fates, for the people who suffered from inhuman violence.
Both events are public - this means that everyone is invited to participate in these moving moments and to remember them. Forgetting is not an option, and especially today, in times of still existing prejudices, it is more important than ever to set a sign of humanity!
