Neukölln's mayor: Violence endangers social peace and police!
Neukölln's district mayor Martin Hikel has called for a clear reaction after violent riots in Berlin. "After this evening with burning barricades and attacks on the police, the thread of patience tears me," Hikel told the "Tagesspiegel" after the nightly unrest that took place in connection with pro-Palestine demonstrations. These demonstrations, triggered by the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, were accompanied by anti -Semitic slogans and violent attacks.
HIKEL, also Co-chairman of the SPD Brandenburg, asked for a hard approach to the abuse of the right to demonstrate. "The police have the means that it must also be allowed to use them," he said, emphasizing that the violence of a few discredited the legitimate grief of the Arab Community and burdened the police excessively. Hikel described the violent demonstrators as the interference of social peace and as a trivialized of terror and anti -Semitism. The situation in Berlin remains tense, and a consistent approach to such riots seems essential. www.kath.net .
