Neukölln's district office creates flower meadows - Wildenbruchplatz in focus

in the Neukölln district were created at various locations in the Blühwiesen district last year to promote biodiversity in the city and offer something beautiful for residents. Now the measures on Wildenbruchplatz have also started, where insect -friendly flower mixtures were sown on the outskirts. In a second step, steady turfs are sown on the inner surface of the square. The newly created flower meadows will initially be protected with a fence for the next few years so that the plants can be established correctly. The lawn, on the other hand, will only be fenced for about 6-8 weeks until the lawn has grown.

Jochen Biedermann, district councilor for urban development, environment and transport, emphasizes the importance of the new flower areas for the Neuköllner and the variety of biodiversity in the city. The desire for a lawn at Wildenbruchplatz was often expressed and the temporary barrier is unfortunately necessary to implement this.

Wildenbruchplatz is one of eight places where a total of 5,000 square meters of flowering areas are created. The other locations are the park on the Buschkrug-Rosenbogengarten, BBR I-Höhe Severingstraße, BBR I-High-voltage path, BBR II-Kita and opposite Kirschnerweg, BBR III-between Rotraut-Richter-Platz and Harry-Liedke-Pfad, BBR III-Pippi-Langstraumpen-Spielplatz, Gielower Straße, Venusplatz and Treburg Ufer.

These measures are part of the efforts of the Neukölln district to improve the green spaces in the district, to promote biodiversity and to make public space more attractive. The system of flowering areas and the steady lawns not only protect the environment, but also promote the well -being of the citizens. It is to be hoped that these measures will contribute to a sustainable improvement in the urban landscape in Neukölln.
