Neukölln sets orange signs against violence on women and girls

Berlin is solidarity in bright orange! From the 25. November 2024 , the international day to eliminate violence against women, the Neukölln town hall tower illuminates in this powerful color. This is how a strong signal is set: violence against women and girls has no place in our society. Until 10. December 2024 , the day of human rights, the impressive play of light will be visible - a clear call for action!

The so -called "Orange Days" are of enormous importance, because they illustrate that violence against women is not an isolated case, but a systematic social problem. This often begins with pejorative comments or ridiculous jokes and escalates in serious forms such as domestic violence, stalking and finally female. Not only a color, but also a reality is made visible here!

a sign of strength

District Mayor Martin Hikel raises the voice against this injustice! On 22. November 2024 at 11 a.m. , together with residents: inside and various anti -WaltWalt projects on the town hall forecourt, the Berlin -wide flag against violence on women. But that's not all: a candle is set up on the town hall staircase for every female committed in Berlin. The town hall tower is our light of hope!

Martin Hikel says it clearly: "We do not tolerate violence against women and girls! Our society has to work constantly for their rights!" An unmistakable call that the fight against violence must be continued every day of the year. And with the bright orange lights, this protest is carried into the hearts of people.

call for actions and events

Around the 25. November important actions are on the program. One of them is the moving exhibition "True love never hurts!" by Joanna Szproch, the 4. until November 26th in the town hall of Neukölln. It is artfully shown here that true love should not be painful.

Another urgent sign is the "Red Shoes - Stop Femicide" campaign from 22. until November 25th . With red shoes - whether sanded or sprayed - the initiators show how serious the situation is at different locations in Neukölln. A shocking picture of reality: In 2023, 155 women were murdered in Germany just because they are women. Problems are clearly pointed out here that cannot be ignored.

For those who want to become active, there is 25. November at 4 p.m. A large demonstration with the motto "Let us live non-violent! Istanbul conventions-now!". It starts in front of the House of Representatives in Niederkirchnerstrasse. Be there and show color against violence!

On 27. November follows a film screening of the impressive film "Home Sweet Home" by Annika Mayer in the Cineplex cinema, followed by a round of talks. And at the women's café on 13. December there is input from Seyran Ateş, a renowned lawyer and author.

These events and promotions are a common effort of many actors - from women in Neukölln to the Berlin police. Let's stand together and set a strong sign for a non -violent world! You can find more information on the websites of the Neuköllner Equal Opportunities Officer. Be there and take part!
