The new support association strengthens the Gertrud Haß Library in Alt-Rudow

A flash from the neighborhood! The Gertrud Haß Library in Alt-Rudow is now getting a strong thrust: committed citizens launched a support association in November to make this wonderful library a pulsating Center for Education and Culture in Rudow.

The most important thing first: This new initiative is not only an opportunity for the library, but also radiates a positive energy into the entire neighborhood. District City Councilor for Education, Culture and Sport, Janine Wolter, sums it up: "With the establishment of the support association, a strong sign of cultural participation and education in Neukölln is set." Her thanks go to the committed citizens who want to change the face of the library with their ideas and their efforts.

But that's not all! Something has been going on in the Gertrud Haß library since the beginning of the year! Volunteers have organized exciting events that make the offer more colorful than ever. The library now has reading promotion offers in cooperation with a primary school, varied chess rounds, plant exchange campaigns and even common crochet afternoons. Not only knowledge is conveyed here, but also community is lived!

The foundation of the support association was made possible by an innovative fine pilot project that supports the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living since May 2023. Together with the Organization Aktion Neighborhood e.V., the Gertrud Haß library has created a structure for volunteering. The goal: create a solid basis for voluntary work and new opportunities for the neighborhood!
