Memorial exhibition reveals dark past Neuköllns
On Friday, September 6, 2024, the vernissage for the exhibition "expelled and persecuted" takes place at 4 p.m. in the Kurt-Löwenstein House at Karlsgartenstraße 6, 12049 Berlin. This exhibition addresses the defamation and persecution of young Jewish people from 1933 and marks the beginning of a series of events on anti -Semitism in Neukölln. The spread of religious and ethnic hate slogans as well as attacks against anti -fascist: inside has repeatedly made headlines.
The exhibition focuses on the experiences and ways of fate of children, adolescents and young adults in Neukölln, who were defamed during National Socialism as Jews or "half -Jews". From the exclusion from 1933 to the deportation in extermination camps like Auschwitz, the exhibition spans a temporal sheet from 1933 to 1945.
The series of events "Anti -Semitism in Neukölln" at the Neukölln adult education center also includes lectures, city tours and workshops that are reminiscent of victims and deal with the origins and violent practices of anti -Semitism in Neukölln. The vernissage on September 6th marks the start of this multi -layered series.
The exhibition can be seen in the Kurt Löwenstein House until November 30, 2024. Admission is free and registration is not required. Other events in the series include lectures, city tours and workshops that deal with various aspects of anti -Semitism.
