Exhibition opening: Marcelina Wellmer presents You are Among Us, We Are Among You
The new exhibition "You are Among Us, We Are Among You" by Marcelina Wellmer will be opened on April 12, 2024 in the experimental Gallery Kunstbrücke at Wildenbruch. The exhibition researches the relationship between people and urban waters as part of the natural culture continuum. Wellmer visualizes Aqua-city habitats and emphasizes the connection between humans and other living things in the water.
Art exhibition is based on interdisciplinary scientific research and activist practices and uses various techniques such as photography, underwater videos and sound recordings to show the variety of life in the water. By presenting the water as a link between humans and non-people, Wellmer wants to raise awareness of the precarious coexistence of different types in urban environments.
The exhibition is presented in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute for Water Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) and with the support of the Nature Conservation Foundation Berlin. In addition to the exhibition, various events are planned, including a conversation and Buch launch with Marcelina Wellmer and Karolina Majewska-Güde as well as a lecture on urban waters with Christian Wolter from IGB Berlin.
The exhibition runs from April 13 to June 23, 2024 in the Kunstbrücke at the Wildenbruch in Berlin. You can contact Diana.nowak@bezirkamt-neukoelln.de for inquiries and images for the exhibition. The exhibition is kindly supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion, the exhibition fund municipal galleries, the fund for exhibition allowances of visual artists and the Nature Conservation Foundation Berlin.
