In the Berlin district of Spandau, a new new building district called "Halske sun gardens" is currently being built. The rest, a total of almost 1000 apartments, should be ready for occupancy in August 2024. This was reported in the current Spandau newsletter of the Tagesspiegel.

The property on which the new building district was being built used to be next to the Gartenfeld S-Bahnhof. There was a arcade colony there that was demolished in 2019. The name of the quarter is reminiscent of Johann Georg Halske, who, together with Werner von Siemens, founded the telegraph building institution of Siemens & Halske in 1847. In the meantime, the project was also known as "Seed", an English allusion to the word "Saat" in the Saatwinkler Damm.

The planned apartments in the new building district have 1 to 5 rooms and are designed as rental apartments. Of the total of 1,000 apartments, 191 rental price is bound. A third of the apartments are barrier -free and all apartments have large balconies, terraces or roof terraces. The roofs are also greened.

In the immediate vicinity, many new apartments are also being built. 3,700 apartments are planned on the island of Gartenfeld and 2750 apartments are to be built on the Siemens campus. Furthermore, 500 apartments have already been completed on the other side of the street on Paulsternstrasse. The new construction quarters on the Havel, such as the Wasserstadt with 2500 apartments and the Carossa district with 1800 apartments, are not far away.
