Prof. Dr. Rainer Schlegel, a name that is respected in the highest legal circles, takes on the role of the new ombudsman for private health and long-term care insurance on November 1, 2024. The 66-year-old lawyer, who was President of the Federal Social Court until February of this year, has a lot of experience and an impressive CV.
With a clear goal, Schlegel takes up his new office: to shape the future of private health insurance! He succeeds Heinz Lanfermann, who had to go from us much too early in June this year after over ten years. The Association of Private Health Insurance is optimistic: "Prof. Dr. Schlegel is the right man for the task!", Announces Thomas Brahm, the chairman of the PKV association.

The numbers speak for themselves: Ombudsmann only questions a minimal part of over 40 million contracts in private health and long-term care insurance- just 0.01 percent! A success that not only impresses lawyers, but also leaves millions of insured persons.
dr. Wilhelm Schluckebier, who temporarily took on the function as a mediator, is now officially praised by the PKV managers for his seamless handover. He certainly contributed to the transition for everyone involved. "We would like to thank him for his tireless efforts in this crucial time!"
The PKV-Ombudsman is not only regarded as a mediator, but also as the voice of the insured in a complex industry. Schlegel's expertise and its excellent reputation give him the necessary authority to act as a link between the interests of the insured and the providers of the services.
