New nature learning path in Berlin: Nature experience and education for students of the capital
New educational experience in the Berlin Tierpark
The Tierpark Berlin is expanding its offer with an exciting nature learning path, which enables young visitors in particular to learn interactive learning about animals and plants. In addition to the Berlin Zoo, the zoo is a very popular destination in the capital and attracts over 1.6 million visitors every year.
The reopening of the area for students from 3. to 8th grade offers the possibility of independently researching topics such as climate change, domestic plants and animals as well as correct disposal methods. A barefoot path, a bird watching station and stations on domestic trees also help to bring nature closer to the children.
educational senator and animal park director enthusiastic
The educational senator Katharina Günther-Lüsch and animal park director Andreas Knieriem are enthusiastic about the new educational opportunity in the zoo. Günther-Lüsch underlines the importance of experiencing nature directly in nature itself and emphasizes how important it is to really get the world of animals and plants closer to the children.
Zoo director Knieriem underlines the central task of the zoo to inspire people for animals and nature. Due to the emotional experience of animal residents, children and adolescents should be sensitized to endangered animals and their habitats.
The new educational offer in the Berlin Tierpark is therefore an important step to sensitize the young visitors to the protection of nature and to promote an understanding of the flora and fauna.
