New double-head champion crowned: exciting tournament in Reinickendorfer senior citizens' leisure facilities
In the cozy premises of the senior citizens' leisure facilities, an exciting double head tournament was recently held, which made the hearts of 24 passionate card players beat faster. No matter whether young at heart at the age of 63 or experienced players at the proud age of 91, everyone was determined to get the title of the double-head champion.
After three intensive rounds of play and a total of 16 games, Michael Arndt finally won the victory. With an impressive lead of 22 points and a total of 177 points, he secured the coveted title. A particularly nice gift because he was allowed to celebrate his birthday just two days earlier. This time last year's winner Peter Schulze took second place with 155 points, followed by Werner Püttmann in third place with 135 points.
The ceremonial award ceremony was carried out by the board of the Heiligensee senior citizens' leisure center, Henri Mahlendorf, and Levent Ceylan, the deputy head of the Seniors department. In addition to the challenge cup, Michael Arndt also received a personal trophy as a memory of this special day. Even the last place was humorous - with a glass of acidic cucumber at the end of the tournament.
The department, supported by the district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU), provided the physical well-being of the participants during the lunch break and contributed significantly to the success of the tournament. Special thanks go to Henri Mahlendorf and the many volunteers who made this day an unforgettable experience with great commitment and passion.
The anticipation for the next double head tournament is already noticeable, because in 2025 the Heiligensee senior citizens' leisure center will again be hosting this popular competition. It remains to be seen which new challenges and exciting moves the next round have.
historical parallels
Although the Double head tournament of the Reinickendorfer senior citizens' leisure facilities is a unique event, there are historical parallels to other tournaments and competitions in the past. In the course of history, card games such as Doppelkopf have always been seen as a popular form of social competition. Already in the Middle Ages, card games such as Schafkopf or Tarock were played in Europe, which are similar to Doppelkopf. This tradition has continued over the centuries and shows how deeply rooted the interest in playing maps in the culture of people.
