Neighborhood councilors in Antonkiez and in the northern Luisenstadt: Citizens shape climate -friendly neighborhood blocks together
In a current press release, the district councilor informed for order, environment, nature, streets and green spaces, Christopher Schriner, about the latest success of the "Climate Kakieze" project. 600 invitation letters were sent to the residents in Antonkiez and in the northern Luisenstadt. The aim of these invitations is to encourage residents to participate in the neighborhood councils, in which concepts for environmentally friendly neighborhood blocks are to be developed.
15 to 20 participants will come together in the planned neighborhood councils to develop ideas and solutions for their neighborhood. The district office Mitte has invited 300 residents from every neighborhood to ensure broad participation. The residents can look forward to interesting meetings in October, November and Spring/summer 2025, where the process is gradually promoted.
The neighborhood councils are an important part of a comprehensive participation process in which the residents are actively involved in the design of their neighborhoods. The aim is that the residents together and constructively drive the development of the neighborhood blocks and thus achieve a positive change in the quality of life and the environment in the neighborhood
District City Councilor Christopher Schriner confidently commented on the new paths of participation: "Together with the resident and scientific support, we want to find solutions in order to make our public spaces more safely and more attractive. I hope that all invited residents actively and constructively take part in the process."
The “Climate Council” project is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Security and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and carried out in cooperation with the Research Institute for Sustainability of the Helmholtz Center Potsdam (RIFS) and the University of Heidelberg. The main goal of the project is to develop concepts that improve climate protection, quality of life and traffic safety in the neighborhoods.
