The innovative music education by Till Schwabenbauer is awarded the Berlin Music School Prize
On July 7, 2024, Till Schwabenbauer, lecturer at the Schostakovich Music School in Berlin-Lichtenberg, was awarded the Berlin Music School Prize. This recognition recognizes the extraordinary commitment of music teachers in the field of music education.
The award ceremony took place as part of the day of the Berlin music schools in the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden. Till Schwabenbauer received the award from Chris Berghäuser, the chairman of the Berlin music school alliance, and Friedrich-Koh Dolge, the federal chairman of the Association of German Music Schools.
District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) praised Schwabenbauer's achievements: "Since 2008, he has headed the Symphony Orchestra of the Schostakovich Music School with empathy and commitment. His innovative approach in music education enriches our educational landscape enormously."
The criteria for the allocation of the Berlin Music School Prize include special achievements in ensemble work, successful results in competitions such as "Jugend musiziert" and a high commitment to pedagogical concepts.
