renovation of the popular playground in the Volkspark am Weinberg: A step towards more accessibility and quality

The upcoming renovation of the playground on the Weinbergsweg in the Mitte district is a significant development for the local community. The playground is one of the most frequented meeting points for families and children and thus has a central role in the social life of the district.

On September 2, 2024, extensive renovation work begins in this popular place. The district councilor for order, environment, nature, streets and green spaces, Christopher Schriner, announced the initiative, which aims to improve the quality of stay. It is not only important to repair the play equipment, which is urgently required after two decades of intensive use, but also to create barrier -free access.

Particular attention is paid to accessibility. A new climbing tower with slide is set up, which is also accessible to wheelchair users. The areas around the nest swing and the carousel are also equipped with a firm surface, which improves the gaming experience for all children. This new concept will be a significant relief in particular for families whose relatives are dependent on aids.

The renovation costs around 400,000 euros and is to be completed over a period of about four months. During this time, the playground remains closed to ensure the safety of the workers and the public. The reopening is planned for the end of 2024 and is expected with great anticipation.

In addition to accessibility, other areas of the playground will also benefit from the renovation work. The football field gets a new rubber libe, and the relaxation area for older children and adolescents is also improved - with new seating and a carefully edited wood area. These measures not only promote the physical fighting spirit of the children, but also promote social interactions and relaxed reservations for the whole family.

This initiative illustrates the commitment of the Mitte district for improving the quality of life of its citizens. By investing in the infrastructure of this venue, not only the fun and safety of the children is promoted, but also a sign of inclusion and social cohesion in the community.
