Walking for seniors in Mitte: movement and exchange in the neighborhood
The district councilor for youth, family and health, Christoph Keller, has announced that a variety of walking campaigns for older people will take place from April 8 to May 6, 2024. Under the motto "Explore your neighborhood on foot", older people have the opportunity to get to know new areas of the district or simply exchange ideas with like -minded people in the fresh air. Regular walks as part of the project "Walking groups for the elderly in Mitte" take place weekly. In addition, special walks are offered in the action month, such as a photo walk in the Schillerpark with the possibility to issue the photos taken.
District City Councilor Christoph Keller will also take part in a few walks, in which the participants have the opportunity to talk to him. A walk takes place on April 8 from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the SOS Kinderdorf, another on April 26 from 2.30pm to 4:00 p.m. in the laundry room Brunnenviertel.
Health City Councilor Christoph Keller emphasizes the importance of movement in old age for physical and mental health. Especially in old age, loneliness can be a problem that can be combated by activities such as the walking groups. Participation in the walks is free and does not require registration. The walks are usually also suitable for people with mobility restrictions.
For more information on the dates and meeting points of the walks, interested parties can contact the press office of the Mitte district. This offer offers older people the opportunity to move, make social contacts and discover the diversity of their district.
