environmental protection and fun on the fanzone in Mitte

The Euro 24 was not only a football event, but also an opportunity to promote environmental awareness. In the fanzone in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the Zero Waste mascot caused a sensation and a good mood among the visitors.

The responsible district mayor Stefanie Remlinger emphasizes that the costumes of the environmental advisors were a successful approach to sensitize people to environmental security topics. With a wink and funny sayings, many football fans were able to win over the mission of environmental protection.

The mascots in the form of a coffee builder, a pasta box, a beer bottle and a cigarette stummy attract the attention of many visitors. Due to the direct address of the fans, interesting discussions about environmental issues could be held. A highlight was that smokers promised to properly dispose of their cigarettes in the future, and other visitors committed themselves to better separate their garbage.

In addition to the fun factor, the topic of reusable dishes was also a central point on the fanzone. The environmental advisors interviewed football fans and found that the majority welcomed the offer. Thanks to the reusable dishes, the fanzone could be kept clean. The interaction with the zero waste mascot suggested many visitors to rely on reusable products even in their own everyday life.

As part of the project "Euro24 - Clean Game our game - our environment - Euro 24 goes the reus", the district office Mitte from Berlin, together with Life Bilding Environment, sets equal opportunities and financial support from the state of Berlin an important sign of sustainability. This project is part of the comprehensive sustainability program "Future League Berlin 2024" of the sports metropolis Berlin as part of the UEFA Euro 2024.
