Anti -Semitic attack on deportation memorial in Berlin Mitte condemned
A shock shakes the capital! Unknown perpetrators have inaugurated the deportation memorial at the Putlitz Bridge and not only the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, but also questioned the basic values of our society!
In the district council (BVV) and the district office in Mitte from Berlin, where the wounds of the past are always kept open, this shameful act ensures being stunned. Head of Jelisaweta Kamm can hardly believe what has happened: "I am shaken and shocked by the desecration of the deportation memory. In the name of the BVV Mitte, I condemn this anti -Semitic incident to the sharpest!" Your words express the feeling of many Berliners who feel this aggression against our culture of remembrance as an attack on peaceful coexistence.
an attack on the memory and memorial culture
The memory of the victims of National Socialist persecution is an indispensable part of identity in Berlin. But between November 11th and 12th the unimaginable happened: a lovingly laid out memorial wreath was thrown onto the train tracks, several candles were smashed. Such deeds are not only shameless, they are also a slap in the face of everyone who fights for the values of being human and against anti -Semitism!
District Mayor Stefanie Remlinger unequivocally demands: "Anti -Semitism and violence against Jewish people must never become normal." Your appeal to the citizens is clear: Together we have to move against these dark shadows that are laid over our society!
together strong against hate
The BVV and the district office Mitte are grateful to the attentive citizens who noticed the crash and presented them immediately. "Your commitment is an important sign of solidarity and responsibility in our society," Kamm praises the intervention of the witnesses. It is this kind of civil courage that makes Berlin strong and shows that we will not be silent!
The investigation has already started. The police state security examines the incidents on suspicion of property damage and the disparagement of the memory of deceased. The BVV Mitte from Berlin continues to remain strugglingly and campaigns against any form of anti -Semitism and hidden hatred. Let's send a strong sign! The memory of the past must not fade and we stand together for a future without fear!
