Mike Schubert finally voted out-Potsdam cheers: SPD scandal mayor has to take a hat!
Potsdam spoke, and the judgment is devastating: On Sunday, May 25, 2025, the incompetent Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) was voted out with an overwhelming 68.3 percent of the vote. A triumphal result that not only crossed the quorum of 25 percent, but also sets a thundering sign of the strength of democracy. Finally, this man, who was not even able to give a child who is severely disabled, was hunted out of office-and that is more than overdue!
Schubert, who has moved the town hall with incompetence and scandals since 2018, leaves a city in turmoil. The case of little Heddå, a four -year -old, severely disabled girl, whose parents over 77 weeks - is particularly blatant - that is almost one and a half years! - were let down by the city. Despite an existing care contract with the Hertha Schulz-Haus, a legal claim to daycare support and an expert opinion from the Charité Berlin, which demanded a seat of handicapped transport,: nothing-absolutely nothing. Schubert and his then deputy Brigitte Meier (SPD) didn't even manage to offer the parents a solution. Instead, they were fed with bureaucratic ignorance while the child and his family suffered.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. The VIP ticket affair in which Schubert broke the brazen free tickets under the nail, and his authoritarian leadership style finally made him a pariah. The public prosecutor's office in Neuruppin let him get away with a ridiculous money requirement of 34,000 euros, but the citizens of Potsdam were not ready to tolerate this man. With its deselection, the city has proven that it no longer promises emptiness and political failure.
Now it is up to the parties to take responsibility. The early mayor election in September or October offers the chance to get Potsdam back on track - with a tour that does not forget the weakest. Schubert's departure is a glorious victory for democracy and a clear signal: such politicians have lost nothing in Germany.
The judgment of citizens in a survey in front of a polling station in Potsdam-Babelsberg was more than clear: "May Mike Schubert never hold a political office again in this country!"
