Metallers in the east lay down work: warning strikes for higher wages!
In a powerful sign of the interference, 7,000 employees of the metal and electrical industry in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony have laid down the work since Thursday. The warning strikes, which took place in the first three days after the end of the peace, clearly show that employees are dissatisfied with the previous employer offers. Dirk Schulze, the district manager of IG Metall, emphasizes that the strong participation of the workforce is a clear call to the employer to finally present an improved offer.
The strikes took place among other things in biotronics and Hettich forming technology in Berlin as well as in large car workshops from BMW and Porsche in Leipzig. IG Metall calls for a salary increase of seven percent and an increase in training allowances by 170 euros with a term of only 12 months. In contrast, employers propose an increase of only 1.7 percent from July 2025 and 1.9 percent from July 2026, with a term of 27 months. The union's demands aim to improve the financial situation of the employees and to create more flexibility in working time design. www.igmetall-bbs.de reports , it remains to be seen how the employers will react to this pressure.
